So, you’re thinking about getting married in Amarillo, Texas. Congratulations! This charming town is a great place to say I do. Located an equal-ish distance from Denver and Fort Worth, it’s a great small town destination option for couples who are looking for something a little different.
Because the local “wedding industry” is on the smaller side, I find couples like to bring their vendors from their home base to make the planning process smoother (not so secretly raising my hand because I’m one of those vendors). But sometimes, you want local flavor too!
As an Amarillo Wedding Photographer, I’ve learned a few tricks for hosting an amazing wedding in the Amarillo area. Because I’m not a great secret keeper, I’m here to spill the beans about
Planning your big day in Amarillo.
My number one recommendation, before you read any further, is to hire a wedding planner. Preferably, someone out of Dallas.
Why? Because you’ll likely need to coordinate your vendors from both DFW and Amarillo, and this will streamline SO much for you. You deserve a fun experience. A planner will minimize stress and save you time and money. They’re also invaluable for preserving relationships (y’all know that asking your family to do a lot of work on the wedding day isn’t fun or fair).
If you need a recommendation, look no further. Treasured Hearts will take the best care of you – and your vendor team, too!
Now that I have that out of the way, let’s talk about some of my other notable wedding vendors that are in Amarillo (or serve the area).
For your ceremony, the most popular choice for a church wedding is, without a doubt, First Baptist Amarillo. I’m obsessed with the arches and stained glass windows. So pretty! It’s also huge, so if a big wedding is the plan, you won’t have any issue.
Next up is the Embassy Suites Amarillo.

This is a venue ripe for transformation, especially for 150+ weddings. The ballroom is ideal for draping installations, over-the-top florals, specialty linen, pretty chairs and pin spot lighting. These additions allow you to make the space your own and elevate the wedding experience.
A gorgeous garden with lush green grass and lots of tree coverage, this venue is, dare I say, the “IT” option. The botanical landscape screams romantic. If you’re a Swiftie, I think you’ll love this space because it has Travis’s backyard proposal vibes. The indoor space is a bit more rustic than the gardens, but it’s super cozy and bright.
Additionally, you can consider a private estate wedding in Amarillo. This is a wonderful option for small, intimate weddings and large guest lists. If you’re dreaming of a tented reception, give Party Dallas a call.
The most notable option in the Amarillo area is Ivory House Bride. You’ll get that boutique experience that makes wedding dress shopping so fun! They have dresses from six designers, including Justin Alexander and Jenny Woo.
There is also a David’s Bridal if you’re looking for a broader selection, including wedding party + mother’s gowns.
The majority of my brides who need a larger selection will choose to purchase their dress close to home, usually in DFW or Denver. When you’re getting alterations, this is a convenient and time-efficient choice too.
Some favorites are:
When it’s time to register, the Little Brown House is local to the Amarillo market. It’s family-owned and one of the sweetest shops! It’s great for finding little wedding day details too – think items for your welcome table, extra personal design pieces and accessories for your ceremony. So much of the planning can be done online now, it’s nice to simply browse through the store and choose items by hand. It’s also great for picking up bridal shower goodies.
Amarillo’s “it” florist is most definitely Avant Gardens! They have the most stunning designs.
Other options in the DFW area that travel to Amarillo include
Scout Floral (attached to Render Event Decor)
It is rare to plan a wedding that doesn’t require any rental items. But what you need can vary greatly depending on where you host and the type of design choices you make. Local to Amarillo, you’ll find two options:
For large selections that cover a variety of design styles and visions, DFW rental companies that also serve Amarillo include:
Photographer tip and something that I recommend to all of my couples: Bring in pretty chairs! Chairs will make a huge impact.
We’ve already established that you’re bringing me in from Dallas, right?
